Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar met Wednesday with Dr. Fabio, Vice President of the European Parliament, and 11 other members to seek support in extending the GSP’s status which is expiring in 2022.
The Governor’s spokesman said that the governor met with members of the European Parliament, including Maximilian Carr from Germany, Karkin Nicolas from France, Jordi Sol from Spain, Emmanuel Fréjus, Bernard Guetta, Gimer Marneau and others. …
At the meeting, the Governor of Punjab briefed the participants on Pakistan’s positive role in the peace process in Afghanistan, protecting Pakistani minorities, religious freedom and ensuring fundamental rights.
Fabio expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in bringing peace to Afghanistan and eradicating terrorism. The meeting confirmed that they, together with Pakistan, will fully cooperate to expand the status of the GSP.
Later, speaking to the media, Chaudhry said that the meeting was a success and expressed his happiness that the European members highly appreciated Pakistan’s role in bringing peace to the region.
He added: “I also called on European representatives to get involved in providing basic services, peace and stability in Afghanistan.”
Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said Pakistan is successfully fulfilling its mission to extend the GSP status to Pakistan.
