The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved four development projects worth Rs 448.40 billion. under Chairmanship of Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin.

ECNEC gave approval to the Punjab ArterialĀ Road Improvement Program (PARIP) worth Rs 129 billion. The project, funded by the government of Punjab, plans to build 535 kilometers of two sections of highway between different cities in the province of Punjab.

Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project (PRSWSSP), worth Rs. 16 billion for 16 Tehsils, Punjab, has been approved by ECNEC after detailed review by the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Corporation.

ECNEC discussed and approved the Karachi K-IV, 260 MGD Phase-I Main Water Supply Scheme at a revised price of Rs 126 Billion. The project aims to fulfill growing water needs of the city and provide a reliable and sustainable water transportation system.

ECNEC also approved the Kharian-Rawalpindi MotorwayProject, which will be implemented on the basis of BOT under the PPP (public-private partnership) mode with a total cost of Rs 95.8 billion. The project consists of building a 117.20 km four-lane controlled access highway from Kharian to Rawalpindi.
